Cooperative coffee shop

 Hasta Muerte Coffee is a new, poc collectively run, worker-owned coffee shop. We are committed to nurturing community while serving the best coffee, hasta la muerte. Offering drinks and snacks and hosting a specialty bookstore, we hope to provide a warm and inclusive atmosphere for friends and neighbors to gather. We believe in non-hierarchical work spaces, quality coffee, and community building.

 

Hasta Muerte Coffee es una nueva cafetería operada colectivamente por gente de color, donde los trabajadores son dueños. Estamos comprometidos a nutrir a la comunidad mientras servimos el mejor café. Serviremos bocadillos y contaremos con una librería de libros especializados, esperamos proporcionar un ambiente cálido e incluyente para que amigos y vecinos se reúnan. Creemos en espacios de trabajo sin jerarquías, café de calidad y construir comunidad.

Founding Member

A Xicano who loves spending time with friends and family and has worked tirelessly for many years in community building and social justice projects. He's now at the worker owned Alchemy Collective Cafe in Berkeley, mastering barista and specialty coffee knowledge. He has dedicated time and travel to an extensive Latinx zine and literature collection and will help curate the small book selection within the cafe.

Matt

Founding Member

A 7 year resident of the Fruitvale/San Antonio neighborhoods, where he co-founded The Bikery, a bike shop and community center that trains and mentors youth from all over Oakland. He is also an artist, screenprinter, musician, anti-police brutality activist, and a dad.

kari 

Founding Member

First generation xicanx, visual artist, self-publisher, illustrator, and maker of things. Creative projects and bringing people together are some of Kari’s biggest passions. Along with drinking coffee and cultivating nurturing spaces for her community Kari believes that being engaged in struggle and standing in solidarity with her community is a beautiful and neccessary thing.

Member

Hija to the rural San Joaquin Valley, Bay Area resident & barista for 8 years. As an experimental artist & vinyl DJ Melanie seeks to connect the social elements of gathering to cross-movement building and anti-colonial, autonomous organizing. Through music & art, friendship building, their hopes are that barriers to radical spaces will give way to a future of dignity and humanity without power. 

JOSE

Member

Jose is a visual artist and active member of the community in the Bay Area. Jose has been living in San Francisco since 1999, as a immigrant from a small town in Oaxaca, Mexico. He understands the importance of working collectively and supporting each other.  He has been putting art shows, workshops and community events in collaboration with different artist and collectives from different countries.  He is also a collective member of a printmaking collective in San Francisco CA.
